Ouachita Parish 4-Her sits down with Rachael Ray
An 18-year-old 4-H’er from Ouachita Parish, Lauren Ogles, decided to tackle the problem of childhood obesity and see if she could make a difference. So she developed a workshop called “Get Cooking, Kid!” aimed at 4-H members in 4th through 6th grades. So far, she’s taught more than 200 students and created her own Web site – www.getcookingkid.com – which includes her teaching materials and recipes.
In January, she was invited to do a guest interview in New York City for celebrity chef Rachael Ray’s Web site. The interview is in the Incredible People Archive and can be viewed online at the Rachael Ray Show. On Monday, Feb. 11, Lauren is the guest blogger for the Chancellor’s Challenge blog.
Lauren is a member of the 4-H Executive Board and a National Conference Delegate. In March, she will give a presentation about her workshop at the National Afterschool Conference in Florida, sponsored by the National 4-H Council.
